What was the purpose of your taking the exam?
For improving my understanding of XML and do better at workplace.

Did you have any experience with XML prior to taking the exam?
Yeah, moderate experience in schemas and dtds.

How much time did you put into studying for the exam?
Roughly a month. The XSLT and XPATH took most of the time. Each day on a average a couple of hours.

Let us know about any books, seminars or other preparation tools you used to study for the exam.
Studied for the exam in the following order.
1 The tutorials available on XML Master website - The namespace tutorial on this site is probably the best in terms of clarity of examples.
2 The XML tutorials on http://www.w3schools.com
3 XML Pocket Reference, O'Reilly publication - Gem of a book with most things covered in a concise form
4 XSLT Quickly - Bob DuCharme, Manning publication - The Part 2 in the book covering XPATH is very nice - gives examples in form of diagrams for various scenarios
Last but not the least, type your own examples for the various concepts - it sticks to memory longer.

Please share any post-exam thoughts or advice for those who will be taking the exam.
The exam is challenging in terms of the number of questions to be answered within an hour. The concepts should be at the fingertips as there won't be much time analysing questions. I used the following approach during the exam - Keep moving as quickly through the questions as possible, if you find some long ones or hard ones - don't give too much time, mark them for review and keep moving as there maybe relatively easier questions(DTDs, namespace etc.) stacked at the end. The ones on the schema, XSLT and XPATH seemed most time consuming; while the others could be attempted well within a minute per question.
